Issue
- In our SaaS environment, email notifications are failing when the "From Address" domain does not end in "@lxc.app" in our notification template for creating objects (even after adjusting the "Email Sender" field within Instance Settings → Email), and the following error was encountered:
com.liferay.portal.kernel.log.LogSanitizerException: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 550 5.1.8 From address not allowed_ [Sanitized]
Resolution
- When using the default SMTP server provided by Liferay in a SaaS environment, though this server is available for long-term use, emails must be sent using the "@lxc.app" domain
- As such, the issue can be resolved by:
- Reconfiguring the "From Address" back to the domain of @lxc.app; or,
- Leveraging an external Mail Server
