Issue

  • Our terminal is populating the following errors:
    ERROR [main][DBUpgrader:70] com.liferay.portal.kernel.upgrade.UpgradeException:
java.sql.BatchUpdateException: (conn=574269) Data too long for column 'name' at row 1
  • After conducting a further investigation, the portlet that is causing the failure is "1_WAR_lcsportlet" but our developer can't find it.

Environment

  • Upgrade to DXP 7.4+

Resolution

  • The portlet is populating despite being missing because the PortletPreferences table keeps an old record that is breaking the upgrade when creating a new table called PortletPreferenceValue.
  • LCS has been deprecated by Liferay. Since it's been deprecated by Liferay, deleting that preference will solve the issue.
