Error handling LOB columns

Issue

  • We have developed a custom entity using Service Builder.
  • One of the tables defines a LOB column.
  • When we try to insert a record in that column we get following database exception:
java.lang.ClassCastException: javax.sql.rowset.serial.SerialBlob cannot be cast to oracle.sql.BLOB

Environment

  • Service Builder is used to develop a custom entity.

Resolution

  • The issue is caused by a type casting with the LOB column.
  • So to fix it you must define the following property in system-ext.properties file:
hibernate.jdbc.use_streams_for_binary=true

 

Additional Information

  • The root cause is in Hibernate v3.6.10 library, integrated within DXP.
