Issue

  • I would like to raise the log levels for ElasticSearch Sidecar
  • The folder [liferay-home]/elasticsearch-sidecar/7.x.x/logs does not contain any log files

Environment

  • Quarterly Releases

Resolution

  • The ElasticSearch Sidecar is only intended for development and demonstration purposes. It is not suitable to use in the production environment.
  • As a result, in the log4j2-sidecar.properties file, the log level is hardcoded.
  • Changing the log4j file inside our ElasticSearch module is possible, however, it is considered customization, so please proceed at your own discretion.

Additional Information

  • It is possible to set the log levels to DEBUG for com.liferay.portal.search.elasticsearch7.internal.sidecar in Control Panel > Server Administration > Log Levels. However, the resulting logs displayed in Catalina.out only contain the DEBUG traces of the Liferay code that manages the ElasticSearch children processes.
