Issue

  • Unable to download complete log files from the Liferay Cloud console. The downloaded file size appears truncated.

Environment

  • Liferay PaaS

Resolution

  • The Liferay Cloud console limits log file downloads to 10,000 lines to prevent performance issues.
  • To retrieve more logs, use the Liferay Cloud CLI with the since and until parameters to specify a time range:
lcp log --since "YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm:ss" --until "YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm:ss" -p <project-name>-<environment> -s <service-name> > logs.txt
  • Replace the placeholders with appropriate values.
    • For example, to download web server logs from February 8th, 9 AM to February 10th, 3 PM for the project "myproject" in the "dev" environment:
lcp log --since "2025/02/08 09:00:00" --until "2025/02/10 15:00:00" -p myproject-dev -s webserver > logs.txt
  • Logs are available in the web console for 30 days. Older logs (up to one year) are stored in cold storage in JSON format.
