Countries in Shipping address are displayed in English regardless the selected user language

Issue

  • Steps to reproduce:

    1. Log in and go to My Account > Account setting
    2. Change the language to something other than English (e.g. Hungarian or German)
    3. Create a Minium site and navigate to catalog
    4. Add a few items to the cart and go to checkout
    5. On the Shipping Address step try to set Country as per the language of the user (e.g. Hungary should be Magyarország or Germany should be Deutschland)

     Actual behavior: All countries are listed in English, regardless of the portal or user language
     Expected behavior: Countries should be listed in the user's language

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.1
  • Commerce 2.0.7

Resolution

  • The observed behavior is a known issue/bug.
  • If the hotfix is required for this issue, please create a support ticket requesting hotfix by attaching patch details.
  • Installing Fix Packs and Hotfixes on Liferay DXP will guide to install this hotfix in the respective environment.
  • To localize country settings please follow the below steps:

    1. Go to Control Panel > Commerce > Settings  and select the Countries tab
    2. Search for the country that you would like to edit (e.g. Slovenia)
    3. Select Edit under the three dots
    4. Select the correct language in the language selector next to Name field
    5. Provide the translation for country name that should appear in the drop down field (e.g. Slovenija)
