Collect Digital Signature button appears even when the Digital Signature feature is not enabled

Issue

The "Collect Digital Signature" button appears in the Documents and Media widget, even if the Digital Signature feature is not enabled

  • Steps to reproduce:
    • Start a clean bundle of Liferay DXP 7.4
    • Go to Control Panel -> Instance Settings -> Digital Signature and verify that it is not enabled
    • Go to the home page and add the Documents and Media portlet to a page
    • Select the Ellipsis options for the widget and go to Configuration and check "Show Actions"
    • Save the configuration and then Publish the page
    • Select any file in the Documents and Media widget
  • Expected Results: The actions at the top of the widget do not have "Collect Digital Signature" since that feature is not enabled

  • Actual Results: Even though the Digital Signature feature is disabled, the "Collect Digital Signature" button still appears.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4 Update 53 and below

 

Resolution

  • This issue is resolved in Update 54 by LPS-168567.
  • After installing the update, the toolbar menu with buttons across the top of the widget have been removed, in favor of a 3-dot drop down menu.
  • This menu correctly checks whether or not the Digital Signature option is enabled, and only shows the Collect Digital Signature option in the Documents and Media widget menu if it is.
