Issue

  • During an upgrade process, you might encounter an issue where the following error occurs:
ERROR [main][BatchingBatch:134] HHH000315: Exception executing batch [java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'classNameId', table 'DB_NAME.dbo.ClassName_'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.], SQL: insert into ClassName_ (mvccVersion, value, classNameId) values (?, ?, ?)

Environment

  • Liferay 7.4 U60+

Resolution

  • Please check whether you have enabled the batch insert property:
    Database Provider Property
    MariaDB rewriteBatchedStatements=true
    MySQL rewriteBatchedStatements=true
    PostgreSQL reWriteBatchedInserts=true
    SQL Server useBulkCopyForBatchInsert=true
  • If any of these are enabled depending on your DB vendor, then remove it and the issue should be solved

Additional Information

  • You can enable the batch insert property for your JDBC configuration in the portal-upgrade-database.properties file. This improves performance by batching insert statements for faster execution. This feature is not available for DB2 and Oracle databases.
  • The batch insert property is included in the portal-upgrade-database.properties file for Liferay 7.4 U60+/GA60+.
