Issue

  • Currently, when viewing users and child organisations assigned to a parent organisation, both entities appear in a unified list.
  • This prevents users from viewing only child organisations or only users in a single, dedicated list, leading to confusion, particularly when paging is involved.
  • A customer also noted that the unified view might cause users to believe fewer child organisations exist than are actually present because of the combined technical query and paging mechanism.
  • This feature could be enhanced in one of the following ways:
    1. Add Two Filters: Introduce two filters (by "Users" and "Organisations") to allow users to switch between dedicated lists for each entity.
      • While effective, this may not be immediately obvious to users unless explicitly indicated.
    2. Implement Two Tabs:
      • Use two tabs (e.g., "Suborganisations | Users") to clearly separate the lists.
      • This approach ensures better clarity and user experience, as users can easily distinguish between the two entity types.
    3. Unified List with Type Labels:
      • Retain a single list but include a "Type" label in each row to specify whether the entry is a "User" or "Suborganisation."
      • This would eliminate confusion caused by pagination while still presenting both entities together.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.0+
