Issue
- As an administrator, when trying to change a user's password the message "Error: Passwords may not be changed under the current password policy" is shown.
- Under certain circumstances the message is NOT shown, but the passwords cannot be changed regardless.
Resolution
- Users' passwords cannot be changed if the active Password Policy has the option "Changeable" unchecked.
- If your logs have messages similar to "Redirect URL [URL] is not allowed", it's possible that you are facing this issue, but the incorrect redirection settings cause the informative message to not be displayed. Please refer to our article Errors in the log file of the type "Redirect URL is not allowed" and seemingly unrelated symptoms.
- If you must change users' password (for manual password recovery, for example), please edit the active Password Policy and leave the "Changeable" checkbox active.
