Issue
- In a SAML configuration where Liferay acts as the Identity Provider, is Liferay able to pass its User Roles to the Service Provider?
Resolution
- Yes, it is possible. Liferay will send the User Role information as an Array of Strings containing User's roles
- Here are the methods responsible for processing this information

DefaultAttributeResolver._addRolesAttribute() method is where we gather the User’s roles and add them to the attributePublisher object:

- When Liferay acts as Service provider:
DefaultUserResolver._processUser() is where the supplied User attributes (firstName, lastName, roles, etc) are processed and added to the incoming user:
- When setting up the Service Provider Connection on Liferay (serving as Identity Provider), it will be necessary to define the attributes here (for example, it may be beneficial to define roles and siteRoles here)
