Issue

  • After upgrading to U78+ you might encounter a behavior where the Audit portlet is only available for Administrators, whereas before U78 you could create a regular role with access to it
  • The reason behind this change is that the behavior where any regular Role could access the Audit portlet which has permission was faulty and raised security concerns
  • The Audit portlet has sensitive information that needs protection from any non-admin user

Environment

  • Liferay U78+

Resolution

  • An export option has been added to the Audit portlet, so an Administrator can use that to share the data with any personnel who need it.
  • This feature request is being assessed by the Product Team to consider having another approach other than strictly restricting the Audit portlet to admins.
