How to Enable Audio for CAPTCHA

Issue

• How can users enable audio for CAPTCHA verification?

Environment

• Liferay DXP 7.4 and above

Resolution

• Liferay does not provide out-of-the-box (OOTB) support for audio CAPTCHA functionality. However, users can consider the following option:
• Integrate Google reCAPTCHA : Google reCAPTCHA includes an audio CAPTCHA option and is compatible with Liferay DXP 7.0 and above. ReCAPTCHA v2, in particular, does not require any additional property configurations. To integrate Google reCAPTCHA with Liferay, follow these steps:
  • Step 1: Obtain reCAPTCHA Keys
    • Visit www.google.com/recaptcha in your web browser.
    • Click on the “Admin console” button located in the top-right corner.
    • Fill in the required details for your site and click “Submit”.
    • After registration, Google will provide you with a Site Key and a Secret Key.
  • Step 2: Configure reCAPTCHA in Liferay
    • Log in to your Liferay instance as an admin user.
    • Navigate to Control Panel → Configuration → Server Administration → CAPTCHA.
    • Check the box to “Enable reCAPTCHA”.
    • Enter the Site Key in the “reCAPTCHA public key” field.
    • Enter the Secret Key in the “reCAPTCHA private key” field.
    • Click “Save” to apply the changes.
    • Step 3: Verify Integration
  • To verify the integration:
    • Log out of Liferay.
    • Go to the Create Account page.
    • Users should see that the default Liferay CAPTCHA has been replaced with the new Google reCAPTCHA interface, which includes an audio CAPTCHA option.
