Issue
- How do you create a role that can edit the details of other users? Like email address, etc.
- How do you create and assign a specific role?
Environment
- Liferay DXP 7.3
Resolution
Creating Users and Roles
- Navigate to the Control Panel > Users and Organizations and create the following users:
- User1 - User with permission to edit user email addresses
- User2 - User whose email address will be edited
- Navigate to Control Panel > Roles and create a new role titled "Edit User Test" to grant permission to edit User2's email address.
Assigning Permissions to the New Role
- Switch to the Define Permissions tab and select the permissions to assign to this role.
- Under Application Permissions, select Access in Control Panel.
- Under Resource Permissions > User, select all permissions.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
- Additionally, navigate to Control Panel > General Permissions and select View Control Panel Menu.
- Review the summary to verify it meets the requirements.
- Under the Assignees tab, add the User1 user to this role.
Verifying the Solution
Log in with the User1 account and verify the ability to change the user details of User2.
Note: If the user is unable to see the Application Menu to access the Control Panel, verify there is no customization restricting the user from having access to the Control Panel.
