Legacy Article

You are viewing an article from our legacy "FastTrack" publication program, made available for informational purposes. Articles in this program were published without a requirement for independent editing or verification and are provided"as is" without guarantee.

Liferay platform "friendly URLs" allow you to create smaller, user-friendly URLs instead of the large, standard ones that the portlet creates. If you try using special characters in the friendly URL, such as changing /web/guest/home with any combination of special characters, they do not work. This is intended behavior.

Environment

  • Liferay Portal 6.x

Resolution

To resolve the issue, there are two potential routes that an administrator could take:

  1. Customize your portal to achieve this requirement.
  2. Use ASCII code equivalent as a workaround.
