Issue

  • When addressing build.gradle changes needed for com.liferay.portal.dao.orm.custom.sql by removing the version number, and a compile error is returned.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.1
  • Liferay DXP 7.2
  • Liferay DXP 7.3
  • Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • The CustomSQLUtil class has been removed from Liferay as of DXP 7.1.  If previously using the class and upgrading to DXP 7.1 and above, you will need to update your dependencies to reflect the changes. 
  • TheCustomSQL service  has been modularized by Liferay as of DXP 7.1. Therefore the new dependency has been split into api and impl.
  • An example of a correct dependency can look like
    provided group: "com.liferay", name: "com.liferay.portal.dao.orm.custom.sql.api", version: "1.0.1"
