Issue

  • Categories are sometimes available while editing a document, yet usages show 0 in the categories section. There is no specific pattern, however, categories do not function as expected when working in a cluster environment.
  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Navigate to Categories and create 2-3 categories (it should reflect in every node of the cluster)
    2. Navigate to 'Content and Data' > 'Document and Media'> Upload a document.
    3. Assign categories to the document.
    4. Observe the success message indicating successful changes.
5.1. Edit the document and check the assigned categories for the document - please take a look at the absence of categories.
5.2. Verify the category usage count - consistently displayed as zero.
  • Use case 1: Categories Not Assigned: When users assign categories to documents, the success message ensures that the changes were successfully saved.
However, the document-allocated categories are not reflected in subsequent checks. Despite the success message, the categories were not attached.

Use case 2: Zero Usages DisplayedThe usage count for the assigned categories is always 0, indicating an issue with tracking category usage.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4 update 92

Resolution

  • The observed behavior is intermittent with DXP 7.4 and thus challenging for replication with a vanilla instance, however, LPS-194926 addresses this concern.
  • Please submit a support ticket to request the hotfix that includes this LPS and see if it resolves the reported behavior.
