Issue

  • bnd.bnd is not getting created with EXT module project.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.2

Resolution

Please Note: The following procedures and unofficial links involve customizations that are beyond the scope of Liferay Support.  Please exercise appropriate discretion in the use of this information.

  • In an Ext module, there is no bnd.bnd file based on the anatomy of an Ext Plugin folder structure.
  • EXT projects are deprecated from DXP 7.0 and are not recommended unless there is absolutely no other way to accomplish your task.
  • Now, as far as the .bnd file is concerned, the Ext Gradle Plugin is really simple, so it can only be used when you need to modify the source files, as mentioned in this documentation
  • And creating a custom class in EXT is not recommended and you can't create it and export it for other functionalities. If you need to modify the manifest as well (which is essentially what you do when you update bnd.bnd), you will need to use a different approach.
  • An EXT has nothing to do with OSGi. EXT applies to the core where OSGi doesn’t live. You can’t mix core and OSGi annotated injection because it won’t work.
