Issue

  • I have a deactivated Site
  • If I try to access the Pages, I get the message: "This site is inactive. Please contact the administrator."
  • At the same time, Documents and Assets can still be accessed and modified
  • Users can use the document download links
  • I expect that if I deactivate a Site, Documents and Assets will not be available either

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.0+

Resolution

  • Deactivating a site results in the deactivation of the site's pages and does not affect the availability of their Documents and other Assets.
  • This is desirable for the case when the Site is used as a file server.
  • The pages of the Site should not be accessible, but users still may want to access files from the Site's DM system.
  • To revoke the permissions, follow these steps:
    1. In the Control Panel, go to Content > Documents and Media
    2. Click the vertical ellipsis button in the upper right corner
    3. Select Home Folder Permissions
    4. Deselect the VIEW permission for "Guest" or any user you do not want to have access to the documents
