Issue

  • How can we configure multiple repositories in Document and Media?

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.0

Resolution

  • It is possible to configure one repository (default store type) along with the multiple external repositories at a time in Liferay. Please refer below for the same,
    • Using Default Store types:
      • Liferay has provided 4-6 repositories that can be configured through portal-ext.properties. Only one store type can be configured at a time in Liferay.
      • Please refer to Default Store types to understand in detail about all the repositories.
    • Using External Repositories:
      • Liferay has provided a feature that allows users to connect with multiple external repositories. This configuration is done at the folder level in the Document and media. Therefore, there can be more than one external repositories configured at a time.
      • For more information refer: Using External Repositories which describes in detail the same.
  • Therefore one repository (default store type) can be configured along with the multiple external repositories at a time in Liferay.

Additional Information

Liferay has given the option of configuring CMIS repositories using AtomPub and Web Services protocols. However, CMIS is deprecated as of Liferay DXP Digital Enterprise 7.0 Fix Pack 14 (SP3) and it will be removed in the future releases of Liferay. Therefore, configuring CMIS will be totally up to your discretion.
