Issue
-
As per https://developer.android.com/distribute/best-practices/develop/target-sdk#pre11, Google notified that By August 2021, new apps must target at least Android 11 (API level 30). By November 2021, all apps that are being updated must target at least Android 11 (API level 30).
-
At the Mobile Experience Platform Compatibility Matrix page ("Liferay Screens" > "Android" section), we can see that API Level 30 will only be supported on 7.3 DXP.
-
Is there a solution for customers who want to run a supported Google Android API Level and stay on (the currently supported) Liferay DXP 7.2 + Liferay Screens instead of upgrading to Liferay DXP 7.3?
Environment
- Liferay DXP 7.2
- Liferay Screens
- Google's Notifications SDK v28
Resolution
- Liferay will work on releasing Liferay Screens for Liferay DXP 7.2 + Liferay Screens with Android API version 30 in the near future, before the Google support for the current v28 ends.
- You may keep track of the implementation at LPS-130055.
