Issue

  • Configure common database for two Liferay servers. Now, whenever try to upload an image on one server then the same image is not getting visible on another server even though the right URL path has been set on web content.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.2

Resolution

  • Having two (or multiple) Liferay servers pointed at the same database is not a supported configuration. That configuration could also result in database conflicts as well as indexing issues.
  • In general, the two separate nodes cannot communicate to one single database with individual repositories and hence can not share data.
  • The above requirement is not technically possible with this architecture.

Additional Information

  • Whenever documents uploaded via document and media portlet from the Liferay portal, their metadata is saved in database tables with different entries, and the respective images are saved in folders with numeric allotted digits, which can be seen inside the data folder.
  • Subscription Services do not offer Architectural Assistance, hence, the above use case needs to be discussed with the respective Architect.
