Issue
- When defining permissions for a folder (for example, in Web Content or Documents and Media), I see a 'View' and 'Access' permission.
Environment
- Liferay DXP 7.0, 7.1, and 7.2
Resolution
- The 'Access' permission is intended to allow users to access content inside a folder they cannot view. If the user already has the 'View' permission on a folder, the 'Access' permission becomes irrelevant as the user can already access the folder and all its contents through the 'View' permission.
- The 'Access' permission can be helpful in a use case like the following:
You want to share the URL to a file inside your private folder with another user without granting 'View' permission to the entire folder. The user that receives the URL will be able to see the file but will not be able to see the rest of the contents of the folder.
