Issue

  • After restoring a backup, the liferay service fails to start and the following error is reported:
rm: cannot remove '/opt/liferay/data/license/*': Permission denied

Environment

  • Liferay PaaS

Resolution

  • This error is usually reported when a backup fails to restore.
  • To resolve it, follow these steps:
    1. In the backup service's LCP.json file, remove the dependency on the Liferay service.
    2. Deploy the changes.
    3. Perform a backup restore.
    4. Add again Liferay as a dependency for Backup.
  • After the backup restore process, the Liferay service should start with no errors.
