Issue

  • When rendering the image for my user, I noticed that the webp file of the page has a considerably increased size
  • Is there something that can be done so that it doesn't happen?

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • First we need to understand that the .webp format is not supported by default by Liferay.
To use it, it is necessary to make some adjustments in the types of formats accepted and in the adaptive media so that the files are generated correctly and can be handled, according to this guide: How to add image extension .webp on editor when creating a new web content in Documents & Media

  • Based on this premise, we understand that this ''optimization'' that the file performs when rendering the pages for the user is an expected behavior of our product when using this format.
