Issue

  • Liferay does not allow me to register a user with the email root@acme.comThe UI displays the following error:
Error: Please enter a valid email address.
  • I would like to know if there is a setting that removes this restriction.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.2
  • Liferay DXP 7.3
  • Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • postmaster and root are reserved keywords and cannot be used as an email address.
  • This is hard-coded in the source code of Liferay and there is no OOTB configuration to change this behavior.
