Issue

  • When uploading files with the forms function, some files are stored in the Documents and Media home folder, while others are automatically created in a subfolder for the user ID and uploaded in this subfolder.
  • The procedures and permissions to upload have not been changed, but why are there two separate patterns?
  • Is it possible to upload files with the same name?

Environment

  • DXP 7.0+

solution

  • This behavior is dependent on the "add folder" permission.
  • Users with "add folder" permission on their home folder will have their uploaded files stored in a subfolder for the user.
  • If you do not have "Add Folder" permission, the folder will be stored directly under the home folder.
By default, "add folder" privileges are granted to site members.
  • Files with the same name cannot be uploaded.
  • Two or more files with the same name cannot coexist directly under a folder.
When uploading, if a file with the same name already exists, the "(1)" suffix is automatically added to the name.
