Issue
When uploading files with the forms function, some files are stored in the Documents and Media home folder, while others are automatically created in a subfolder for the user ID and uploaded in this subfolder.
The procedures and permissions to upload have not been changed, but why are there two separate patterns?
Is it possible to upload files with the same name?
Environment
DXP 7.0+
solution
This behavior is dependent on the "add folder" permission.
Users with "add folder" permission on their home folder will have their uploaded files stored in a subfolder for the user.
If you do not have "Add Folder" permission, the folder will be stored directly under the home folder. By default, "add folder" privileges are granted to site members.
Files with the same name cannot be uploaded.
Two or more files with the same name cannot coexist directly under a folder. When uploading, if a file with the same name already exists, the "(1)" suffix is automatically added to the name.
