Creating Master Pages for Clarity's Distributors

Maintaining consistent page layouts (e.g., headers, footers, navigation bars) is essential when developing cohesive web solutions. Following this principle, Clarity wants to create a master page template for distributor pages that provides a unique experience for distributors.

Exercise: Creating the Distributor Master Page Template

Here, you'll create a distributor-specific master page with a unique navigation bar and footer resources.

  1. Open the Site Menu (Site Menu), expand Design, and select Page Templates.

  2. Click Actions (Actions) for the Primary Master Page and select Make a CopyMaster Page.

    Make a copy of the Primary Master Page.

  3. Click Actions (Actions) for the copy and select Rename.

  4. Set the name to Distributor Master Page and click Save.

  5. Start editing the Distributor Master Page.

  6. From the Browser (Browser) tab in the left side panel, find and delete these fragments:

    • Header Announcement Bar container
    • Menu Display fragment
    • Footer Navigation container

    Find and delete these fragments.

    NOTE
    You can delete a fragment by clicking Actions (Actions) and selecting Delete; or by selecting the fragment and pressing backspace on your keyboard.
  7. From the Fragments and Widgets tab, drag and drop the Distributor Footer fragment between the Footer Branding and Footer Legal containers.

  8. Click Publish Master.

With the master page published, you can apply it to Clarity's pages.

Exercise: Applying the Master Page Template

Here, you'll apply Clarity's new master page template to the Tickets page.

  1. Navigate to the Tickets page and start editing it.

  2. In the left sidebar, click Page Design Options (Page Design Options).
    This opens a selection menu for the page's master template.

  3. Select Distributor Master Page.

    Apply the Distributor Master Page to the page.

  4. Click Publish to save your changes.

  5. Verify that the master page template's elements display on the page.

Great! You've created new master page template and applied it to the Tickets page. You'll enhance this master page with a new navigation menu in Module 5.
