Issue

1. Create a Web Content with a future display date
2. Add an Asset Publisher in the home page
3. The Web Content does not appear in the list (as expected)
4. Create another Web Content and publish
5. The Web Content appears in the list (as expected)
6. Change this last Web Content's Display Date, set to a future date (the web content is intended to disappear in Asset Publisher)
7. The asset still appears in the Asset Publisher

Environment

  • DXP 7.0 and above

Resolution

Indeed, the behavior is intended.
This feature has been designed as the following:

  1. Admin creates a Web Content.
  2. Admin displays the Web Content somewhere on the site (in the given example, within an Asset Publisher).
  3. Admin would like this Web Content to be updated, but not immediately - therefore schedules it by a Display Date set to a future time.
By pressing the Publish button, a new version of the Web Content is created.
Although it may seem trivial, a new version is created even though the content is not changed at all.
  4. The old version of the Web Content is still displayed, until the new version's Display Date, when it is replaced by the new version (in the above scenario, with the same content).

If the Web Content needs to be removed from all Portlets and displayed with a new, future Display Date, the following method can be applied:

  1. Create a new Web Content, Publish it with default Display Date (or pick an existing article).
  2. Instead of editing the Web Content's Display Date, Expire it. This will remove its visibility from all the corresponding Portlets as well.
  3. Edit the Web Content's Display Date and set the desired future time. The article will be displayed in the Portlets after the Display Date.
