Uploaded images are not visible to Guest users

Issue

  • Guest (Unauthenticated ) users are unable to see the images when uploaded in a folder via the portlet "Document and Media" even though "View" permission is enabled.
  • Steps to reproduce:
  1. Navigate to Documents and Media and create a folder.
  2. Upload an image inside the created folder and publish.
  3. Now edit the current site and add the portlet "Media Gallery" from the widget icon.
  4. Click on "Configuration" of the above added portlet and under the Root folder, select the newly created folder and save.
  5. Publish the site to reflect the changes.
  6. Sign out from the portal.

Expected Behavior: The added image should be visible.

Observed Behavior: Error pops up "You do not have the required permissions".

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • This observed behavior is a known bug of DXP 7.4 update-51, however, it isn't present on update 92 (DXP 7.4 update 92).

Additional Information

  • Upgrade the DXP update to the latest one to achieve the expected behavior: Upgrade Basics
  • All patching-tool commands must be executed from the {liferay_home}/patching-tool directory​
For Ubuntu:    ./patching-tool.sh 
For Windows: patching-tool.bat
