Issue

  • The Message Board portlet publishes before a post is completed.
  • Using the Message Boards portlet:  When the 'Subject' field has focus, if the ENTER key is pressed, the thread is published before the 'Body' field can be edited.

    Example
    1. Click: New Thread

    2. Add a Subject Title to the thread > Maintain focus on the 'Subject' field then press the ENTER key.

    3. Result
The thread gets published only containing the Subject:

Environment

  • DXP 7.3   DXP 7.2   DXP 7.1

Resolution

  • Use the TAB key or mouse-click to advance between fields.

  • This is expected behavior and how the application is designed to work.

Unless a focused area is a text area or a multiple-lined text field, Liferay will register ENTER key inputs as an attempt to publish as long as required fields have been completed.

For example, the same behavior can be observed with Web Content and Bookmarks.
