Issue

  • Some fix packs cannot be reverted or may have hard limits on which versions that the patch level can be reverted to.
  • The reason why a rollback option is unavailable is due to database schema updates, plugin updates, or other changes that are incompatible with an earlier fix pack following the installation of a newer fix pack.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.0, 7.1. and 7.2

Resolution

  • Prior to a fix installation, Liferay Support suggests backing up the database, Documents and Media storage directory, as well as the application server bundle in the event that a rollback to an earlier patch version is necessary.
  • Please be sure to review the Liferay DXP Release Notes tool which allows comparisons between the version that you will be upgrading and the version that you will be upgrading to. This will provide information about any important changes in a specific patch version, as well as list fixes and updated features.
  • As Liferay DXP's fix packs are cumulative, please bear in mind that each fix will follow the previous fix.
