Issue

  • GZIP filter is not enabled after upgrading from DXP 7.0.

Environment

  • DXP 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4

Resolution

  • This functionality has been disabled due to the potential security risk over HTTPS.
  • GZIP compression can be re-enabled with portal-ext.properties file:
    com.liferay.portal.servlet.filters.gzip.GZipFilter=true
  • Another alternative is to delegate the GZIP compression to the front-end web server, freeing the application from compressing web resources.
    • For example, Apache can enable GZIP compression with mod_deflate.
