Issue

  • Within the webcontent edit screen, there is a component in the right sidebar that allow us to define a Display Page Template in order to configure which will be the page that will render the content when it is called using the default url of the content.  With this component, we can configure one of the following to be like a "landing page" of the content to be rendered: Display Page Template, Public Page, Private Page.

  • We have found that it is possible to take a Display Page Template and mark it as default. The problem is that we couldn't find the way to configure this default page using a Public page. We can configure a public page in the combo, but we don't know how configure a Public page as default. Is it possible?

Environment

  • DXP 7.2

Resolution

  • Unfortunately the use of a page as default template is exclusive of the Display Page Template. So on this situation the standard procedure is Creating a Display Page Template and setting it as the default.
  • On the other hand, there's a workaround that might be the best solution for your situation. This is not the usual procedure, but it might help you achieve what you are trying. The workaround consists in instead of assigning the page as the default template of the Web Content, assigning it as the Specific Display Page Template of the Structure. Doing so any new Web Content of that Structure should have the selected public page as it's Specific Display Page Template.

In order to implement this you con follow this steps:
    1. Go to Web Content ->  Structures.
    2. Select the three vertical dots of the Structure that defines the contents that will be created.
    3. Click on Edit Default Values.
    4. Set the desired Public Page as Specific Display Page Template of the structure.
    5. Create a new Web Content.

Doing so the new Web content should already have preconfigured the public page as Specific Display Page Template.
