Issue

  • I would like to create and build my themes in Liferay Maven Workspace.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.3
  • Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • Prerequisites: https://learn.liferay.com/web/guest/w/dxp/building-applications/tooling/blade-cli
  • Check Version Compatibility Matrix
  • Follow the steps:
    1. Created a new workspace. E.g. for Liferay 7.4 Update 92. blade init -b maven -v 7.4.13.u92
    2. cd themes navigating to themes folder of the workspace
    3. You can list the available templates with blade create -l
    4. Create a new theme from an out of the box template. blade create -t theme themeName
    5. Modify the generated source code as required / add your own css, javascript, freemarker templates, configuration, etc.
    6. Ran the command mvn clean package from the theme's folder.
    7. Find the deployable version in target folder as a war file
