This article describes a workaround for the following known issue that you may encounter when using Liferay Portal with operating system Windows XP and/or Windows 7.

The error reads:

Error 0x80010135: File path is too long

An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

Resolution

The native Windows Zip file extractor may produce errors due to the long file names contained in this bundle because Windows 7 only supports a 256-character string size limit because of the MAX_PATH variable. To avoid this issue please use a 3rd party unzipping tool such as WinZip, 7-Zip, G-Zip, WinRar, etc.
