Issue

The default selection of "Site Member" is preventing the inheritance of guest permissions. This default behavior occurs because a private page exists in the site, influencing the default permission settings.

Environment

  • Quarterly Releases

Resolution

To have the "Guest" option appear in the permission selector by default, you need to remove the private pages in the site. The existence of this private page causes the "Site Member" option to be selected by default.

Steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Identify the Private Page: Navigate to the site and identify any private pages that may be influencing the permission settings.
  2. Remove the Private Page: Delete the identified private page from the site.
  3. Ensure no other private pages exist that might affect the default permission settings.
  4. Verify Default Permissions:
    • Create a new folder and check the permission selector.
    • Confirm that the "Guest" option is now available by default.

By following these steps, the "Guest" permissions can be set as the default, ensuring the necessary permissions are inherited for guests when new folders are created.
