Security and Administration
After installation comes configuration. There are three areas you should examine carefully before opening your system to users:
- Security
- Administration Settings
- Users and Permissions
Security
Liferay naturally integrates into the rest of your IT stack, but you must take steps to configure it. Here, you can configure Single Sign-On, connection to LDAP directories, define how users authenticate, enable Multi-Factor Authentication, lock down various web services, and much more.
Administration Settings
Only you know your plans for Liferay’s platform in your organization. Since Liferay scales from small to enterprise-grade installations, you must use the settings that work best for the way you use it. Here, you can do everything from set the file storage method, manage applications with Liferay Marketplace, administer the server, audit user activity, monitor the running instance, and more.
Users and Permissions
Once you’ve integrated Liferay into the rest of your stack and configured it optimally for your use, you can create the users, organizations, accounts, user groups, and set all their permissions exactly the way you need them to empower your users to build the sites you have in mind.
