Expired web content in Staging is not expired in the Live site

Issue

  1. Turn on Staging
  2. Create a page
  3. Create a web content article
  4. Display the web content on an article with a Web Content Display widget
  5. Publish everything to Live
  6. Schedule the web content to expire
  7. In the web content administration view, click on the 3-dot menu next to the web content→Publish to Live
  8. Wait for the scheduled time to pass
  9. Checking the web content article in both environments show the following results:
    • In Staging: the web content is shown as expired.
    • In Live: the web content is not expired.

Environment

  • DXP 7.1

Resolution

  1. Go to Control Panel → Configuration → System Settings → Web Content → VIRTUAL INSTANCE SCOPE → Web Content

  2. Scroll down and check the following option:
    Single Asset Publication Includes Version History
    This will set whether the web content version history should be included in single asset publications.

  3. Click on Update

  4. Test the case again and the Web Content Display Portlet will display the content as expired in Live.
