Issue

  • We are currently evaluating Liferay Analytics Cloud vs. Google Analytics and have noted a strong discrepancy in the overall site metrics that are shown in the Liferay Analytics graphs for the past 30 days.
  • We would like to understand more details about the overall calculation behind statistics such as Unique Visitors, Sessions/Visitor, Session Duration, Bounce Rate.
  • The bounce rate in Liferay seems very low in comparison to the Google Analytics platform.

Environment

  • Analytics Cloud

Resolution

  • Since both products are quite different when it comes to how they work, it is possible that there are some slight differences, due to how the values are calculated.
We also have no visibility about how your Google Analytics account is set up or whether it has been set up the expected way - and this fact alone can have a huge impact on the numbers you see in Google Analytics.
  • Besides this, we have rarely received reports from our customers that the bounce rate is incorrect so that leads us to believe that it is working as expected. As always, if there is a concrete example to check, please open a ticket with a use case so that we can investigate further and offer you more information about what is happening behind the scenes.
