Issue

  • Is there any way to create custom API applications without code?

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.

Resolution

  • Liferay has created a new application to help developers build APIs based on custom objects in a no-code UI. This new feature allows users to define the entire structure of their API, from endpoint names to data models for request and response schemes.
  • This feature is still in beta mode, i.e., they are in active development and are not ready for production use.
  • It is available from DXP 2023.Q4 Quarterly Release and it can be enabled via the Beta Feature Flag in Instance Settings >> Feature Flags >> Beta.
  • After enabling this, you can see this option by navigating to Control Panel > Objects > API Builder.
  • However, Liferay makes these Beta Features available for users to test and validate with their use cases and business objectives, and ultimately provide critical feedback.
    • Please see here: Beta-Features
    • Therefore, Liferay support is limited to providing assistance with installation, configuration, or troubleshooting of Beta Features.
