Issue
- I cannot select content from other site different than Global and the current one.
Environment
- Liferay 7.3, 7.4, Quarterly Releases
Resolution
- The observed behaviour is the expected one: there is no current way of selecting a different site from the current one, Global or those with a parent-child relation (here you can find how to enable parent-child content sharing).
- The component's behavior change was driven by numerous issues when displaying content from different sites:
- It is worth noting that, due to those issues, you may be able to select web content from other sites depending on your specific version. If that happens to you, be aware that it is a malfunction and it is (or will be) fixed in future releases, so you should not use it.
- In addition, a new feature designed to address these situations has been developed: Asset Libraries.
- If Asset Libraries is not of your interest, you could consider these alternative options:
- Use the Global site to include this content.
- Utilize the 'Content Display' fragment (on Content Pages) to select content from other sites that the user has access to, regardless of the relationship.
- Employ another widget, such as the Asset Publisher, which allows the injection of content from 'Sites I Manage'
