Issue

  • When reviewing documentation such as https://help.liferay.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028820652-Configuring-RSS-Feeds the RSS Feed feature is listed as deprecated, and has been 7.1 but is still available in 7.4.

    1. If this is deprecated, is there an end of life / remove from Liferay date / version number?

    2. For customers who need to make web content available from their site available as an RSS feed, what is the Liferay recommended replacement for this feature?

Environment

  • 7.4, QR

Resolution

  • Regarding the first question, there is no plan for removing the RSS Publisher widget from the product in the short or middle term. Our initial goal when deprecating a feature is to notify clients about the ending of development and support. Before complete removal, we gather client feedback to determine whether direct elimination or replacement is necessary. In this instance, given the expected continued usage of this feature, our product team has decided not to remove it completely at this time (2025 January)

Regarding the second, there is no plan nowadays to implement another RSS feed feature.
