Issue

  • Siteimprove is a useful extension that analyzes a site to make sure everything is ADA compliant and working as expected, but how to use it in a Liferay SaaS environment?

Environment

  • Liferay DXP Quarterly Releases
  • Liferay SaaS

Resolution

  • Liferay has Nginx rules in place to map and block certain malicious user agents. You can find these rules here:prevent_malicious_bots.conf.

As part of this policy, Liferay has decided to block search engine requests to these default URLs (lxc.liferay.com). However, you can configure your own testing when using custom domains.

With a custom domain, you can update your robots.txt from DXP.  You can configure that feature on your Virtual Instance, by accessing the Product Menu → Site Builder → Pages → Configuration → SEO → Robots option: Advanced Page Set Options.
