Exercise: Installing Liferay Developer Studio
Liferay Developer Studio provides an all-in-one, integrated development environment based on Eclipse that supports Liferay DXP development. While you can install it in multiple ways, here you’ll install it using Liferay’s standalone graphical installer.
-
Go to the liferay-ide GitHub repo and download the latest version of LiferayWorkspacewithDevStudio for your operating system.
Note: When installing Liferay Developer Studio for your own projects, review the Developer Studio’s Compatibility Matrix for a list of supported Liferay versions and application servers. Unless you are using an older version of Liferay, you should use the latest version. -
Run the installer.
-
Specify where to install Liferay Developer Studio and click Next.
-
Uncheck Install Command Line Tools and click Next.
-
Select Skip proxy configuration and click Next.
If are behind a proxy server, please see Creating a Liferay Workspace for how to configure your proxy. -
Click Next to begin installing.
-
Click Finish.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You’ve set up Liferay Developer Studio. While working with Liferay does not require any specific developer environments, developers may leverage Liferay-specific IDEs to simplify workspace and Liferay project management.
Next, you’ll learn about the Liferay Cloud Console and how developers can use it for Liferay SaaS and PaaS projects.
