Is Elasticsearch 8.14.x or 8.15.x compatible with Liferay DXP Quarterly Release?

Issue

• The compatibility matrix does not list newer releases of Elasticsearch, like 8.14.x or 8.15.x, are they compatible?
• We've been made aware of CVE-2024-23445 and CVE-2024-37280, can we upgrade to Elasticsearch 8.14.x?

Environment

• Liferay DXP Quarterly Release

Resolution

• At the time of publishing this article, compatible versions of Elasticsearch are listed on the Compatibility Matrix, which do not include Elasticsearch versions above 13.x.x. 
• However, there is a public ticket (LPD-27583) to track the progress of this change.
