Questions about the Renew license option in Customer Portal

Issue

  • Our currently installed licenses are about to expire .
  • We want to create new license keys in the Customer Portal and there is a "Renew"  option available.
  • If we use the Renew option, will the currently installed licenses be still valid to not affect the running workload?
  • Will the newly created licenses include the time before the other license expires so we can install them before that date?

 

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.0+
  • Quarterly Releases

 

Resolution

  • When you renew your license from the Customer portal, it will create a new xml file that you will need to deploy instead of the old one. Creating a new file will not affect the old license - it will continue to work until you replace it (and until it is valid).
  • The new license key should be valid from the day you create it (or you can chose a later date), so you can install it before to old one expires.

  • In order for the above steps to work, you must have a valid subscription.
