Using the Web Content Display Widget

After you create a web content article, the quickest way to display it is the web content display widget. Once a web content article is displayed, content updates appear immediately, unless you configure a workflow to review and approve the updates.

Adding Web Content Display to a Page

  1. Go to Site Menu ( Site Menu ) and navigate to Site BuilderPages.

  2. Click Actions ( Actions ) next to the page you want to edit and select Edit (alternatively, create a new Content Page.)

  3. Click Add ( Add widget icon ) to open the Fragments and Widgets panel.

  4. Under the Content Management category in the Widgets tab, drag the Web Content Display widget to a place on the page.

Drag-and-drop the web content display widget onto the page

  5. Click Options ( Options icon ) at the top right of the widget → Configuration.

Open the configuration options for the Web Content Display widget

  6. In Web Content Display Configuration, click Select under the Setup tab.

  7. In the Select Web Content dialog, click the web content you want to add.

If you organize your content using folders, you can visualize all available content by navigating through the folders. Use the breadcrumbs above the folders and content sections to help your navigation.

When you organize your web content using folders, view all available content by navigating throught the folders.

    tip

You can search for all content (*) using the search bar. This returns a list with all the available folders and web content on the site.

  8. Set up optional web content display options.

  9. Click Save and close the Web Content Display Configuration dialog.

  10. If you want to publish the Content Page, click Publish.

Using Scopes in the Web Content Display Widget

After adding a Web Content Display Widget to a page, you can set its scope to define the sites and libraries where the content available to be displayed in the widget can be found. For more information about scopes, see Setting Widget Scopes

  1. Click Options ( Options icon ) at the top right of the widget → Configuration.

  2. In Web Content Display Configuration, click Scope on the tab.

  3. Click Liferay DXP to open the Scope menu. Here you can select the desired scope for the widget. Click Save.

  4. Click Setup on the tab.

  5. Click Select to open the Select Web Content Menu.

  6. Click Sites and Libraries on the breadcrumb menu.

Click on Sites and Libraries option in the breadcrumb menu.

The available content to be displayed is defined according to the selected scope.

note

For Liferay DXP 7.3 and earlier, selecting a scope for the Web Content Display Widget does not affect the available content to be displayed in the widget.
